WG Fire - Fire Alarms

Your fire alarm maybe the only warning that you get of a fire. Therefore it is vital to service and maintain it correctly to ensure that it will operate when you need it. The fire industry is much the same as any other in that there are strict regulations as to the design, installation, commisioning and servicing of equipment. This is just a brief insight into the rules and regulations regarding fire safety equipment and although correct at the time of posting it is for basic information only and is not to considered as the complete British standard regulations.

Service intervals for fire alarm systems is 6 months maximum or 3 months for older systems or properties of higher risk, fire extinguishers is 12 monthly intervals. Emenrgency lighting is every 3 months.

Fire alarm panels - 10 years
Fire alarm panel batteries - 4 years
Smoke and heat detectors - 5 years
Fire extinguishers 10 years
